The bee has been a symbol of Crete from circa 1800BC during the Bronze Age and are a significant symbol of the Minoan, Matriarchal civilization.

Bees are also famous for one of the fruits of Greece, honey. Some of the best honey comes from the island of Crete. Bee colonies are scattered all over the island. As you drive from village to village you can see the coloured honey boxes placed on the higher parts of the mountains where bees can create delicious honey from the mountains with thyme, wildflowers and other herbs.

Length: 70cm, Width: 50cm – Natural fibre content can cause some shrinkage after washes.

Care instructions: Initial hand wash in cold water. Do not bleach or tumble dry. Warm wash and iron on reverse.
