Horta, translating to ‘wild greens’ in English is a very popular dish in Greek cuisine. Boiled greens are a much loved staple in almost every Greek home. Here I have illustrated the 4 popular types of greens one may find in a Greek home or in a Greek Taverna such as, amaranth, chicory, endive, and dandelion. To celebrate this special tea towel, my beautiful Grandmother, Yiayia Maria grew out her wild amaranth, also known as Vlita to collect the seeds just for you!
Purchase a horta tea towel and receive Vlita seeds that can last you a lifetime of growth, every summer (Australian orders only). Vlita, also known as wild amaranth is a special kind of horta, it is also our family favourite. Plant the seeds in spring and enjoy Horta all summer long. There is no need to replant the following years as vlita will always regrow once it has been planted once! It’s the garden gift that keeps on giving. Thank you, Yiayia!
